"Elon Musk, Stephen Hawking, and hundreds of artificial intelligence researchers and experts have signed a letter calling for a worldwide ban on “autonomous weapons.” The signatories say this new era of robotic and AI-equipped killing machines could set off “the third revolution in warfare, after gunpowder and nuclear arms.”

Good luck on that, guys.... technology is but a mirror or ego-extension of humanity. Sadly it is not exclusively reflective of the best of our nature.
ReplyDeleteMankind evolves, the "war machine" evolves... or, is that "devolve"? In any case, while I applaud their efforts, I think they come too late in the game.
DeleteHawking seems to be doing a lot of posturing lately... in the (alleged) search for alien life, for instance. Our warlords and overlords should have been looking a little closer to home... in the past 60 years or so. No?
